Deconstructed Remodel: Organic Master Bathroom

When this homeowner contacted me to design her master bathroom, she had just two thoughts regarding her inspiration for the space. She wanted to bring the outdoors in and she had a love for honey onyx stone.

A unique inspiration, but an exciting and beautiful one. I immediately thought of a misty grey yet lush forest. The honey onyx brought to mind images of petrified wood. The bathroom had to be whimsical and organic, as well as relaxing and tranquil.

I decided on a color palette that balanced cool and warm tones. A grey, softly muddled floor tile meets a warm onyx pebble floor. A neutral, gently textured porcelain tile wraps the shower walls with an accent of onyx travertine. The cabinetry, in a spiced stain, is topped by the real star of the room: shadow onyx stone.
